Whether you are a competitive athlete, a fitness enthusiast or a casual swimmer, we have the sporting infrastructure which will provide you with all that you need to train and take part.
Nottingham is well known for its sporting success and consistently finishes within the top 10 in the British Universities and Colleges Sports League. We are immensely proud of the sporting achievements of our students, many of whom have gone on to become top sports men and women or a regional, national and international stage.
We are also one of the only Universities in the country to employ a Disability Sport Officer, who has the responsibility of developing sporting opportunities for disabled students at the University.
There are many opportunities for you to get involved in sport at any level at the University. Whatever your aim - be it fitness, fun or representative sport at the highest level - we hope that you will take part, get involved and be happy and healthy during your time at Nottingham and beyond.

As well as its excellent reputation for scholastic achievement, the University of Nottingham is well known for its sporting success and depth in performance sport. We offer sports bursaries to top level athletes and a number of other support services. The University sports teams have also continued to perform consistently well in BUCS, finishing in the top 10 for the last 15 years.

The University has 75 sports clubs, offering a wide variety of choice to students, from football to judo to netball to rambling. A majority of our sports clubs offer the opportunity to compete in BUCS, whilst others offer some great competitive and social opportunities.

The University boasts one of the largest programmes of Intra-Mural Sport in the country. University Halls and societies compete in a variety of different sports including, football, netball, rugby and hockey. There are also a series of one day competitions planned for other sports.

The University takes part in the annual charity Varsity series against Nottingham Trent University each year, across a number of different sports including basketball, football, rugby, american football, netball, hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse. It is a heady mix of fun and rivalry, with an increasing number of students and spectators able to go along and support.

The University has taken a proactive lead in developing sporting opportunities for disabled students and staff at Nottingham. Whether you compete internationally or are just looking for ways to get fit and meet new people, we have something for you. Ultimately, we want everyone at the University to be able to access sport or some sort of physical activity.

The Tri Campus Games is an international sporting event where students from each of the three University of Nottingham campuses (UK, China and Malaysia) compete against each other in a programme of different sporting activities. The Games rotate across the University's three campuses each year. 2013 will see the Games heading to Malaysia in June.

The University has some great opportunities for those of you who are looking to play sport casually. We have a great programme of fitness and well being classes, as well as the opportunity for you to book badminton, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts with friends. A number of the Athletic Union Clubs also offer social sessions to their members and as a member of staff their are also a whole host of other activities for you to try.

Whilst staff working at the University are welcome to join in with any of the student activities, there are specific clubs and facility space allocated to staff sports clubs. As a member of staff you currently have the opportunity to join one of the following - badminton, squash or golf clubs.
