Guaranteed Bursaries 2012-13 (for new students)
The University of Nottingham is providing a generous package of bursaries to support full time undergraduate home* students from lower-income families who are liable for the £9,000 tuition fee. Unfortunately, students on NHS-funded courses are not eligible for these University bursaries (with the exception of the Nottingham Potential Bursary for Care Leavers).
University Core Bursary
At least a third of our students are likely to be eligible for our Core Bursary, which offers up to £3,000 for each year of undergraduate study.

Bursaries of between £750 - £3,000 are being offered to undergraduate students who commenced their course in September 2012 and are liable for the £9,000 tuition fee.
To be eligible you must:

Be registered on a first undergraduate degree course (or PGCE/ 1st year GEM) at Nottingham.

Have UK home status for funding purposes.

Be liable for the tuition fee of £9,000 in 2012-13.

Have had a full financial assessment carried out by Student Finance.

Have a residual household income between £0-£42,600 as assessed by Student Finance.
Students in receipt of a National Scholarships Programme award (with the exception of care leavers) will not receive a Core Bursary in their entry year but will still be able (if eligible) to receive a Nottingham Potential Bursary; if eligible Core Bursaries will be paid in future years.

Undergraduate students should apply via the student portal once registered for the academic year. Please see this link for more information.
PGCE students are eligible to apply for the Core Bursary, but will have any TA Bursary they receive included as household income. Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) student are also eligible to apply, in their first year of study only. PGCE and GEM students can also apply for the Nottingham Potential Bursary if they have dependants and meet the other criteria (please see below).
PGCE and GEM students will not be able to apply via the portal but instead should apply using this online form
Nottingham Potential Bursary
A Nottingham Potential Bursary provides an additional £1,000 a year for students who meet at least one of the following criteria:

Entering via an Access route or with vocational qualifications (e.g. BTEC), rather than A levels (or equivalent) and with a residual household income figure of up to £42,600. To be eligible on this basis you must be in your year of entry to the University, and on the first year of your course (or year 0 if doing a foundation year).

Students with a residual household income figure of up to £42,600 with financially dependent children or adults.

Students under the age of 25 years at the start of the course who are currently or have been in public care for a minimum time period of three months (please note that you can still apply for the Nottingham Potential Bursary for Care Leavers even if in receipt of NHS funding).

Students who have fulfilled specified conditions through participation in the University's widening participation outreach activities (for example, through our summer schools).

*Your student finance company (i.e. Student Finance England, Wales, Northern Ireland or SAAS) will decide your residency status. To be classed as a ‘Home’ student you must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the three year period prior to the start of your course. Students granted refugee status and European migrant workers may also be eligible. If you are unsure of your status contact the student finance company for further information.
