How to apply for the Core Bursary

We have tried to make the application procedure for the Core Bursary as simple as possible; just follow the step by step guide below:

Step 1
When you complete your PN1 form (PR1 for returning students) or online application for financial support from Student Finance, you and your sponsor/s (usually parent/s or a partner) must have agree to share your financial information with the University. This will enable your household income information to be shared with us so that we can assess your eligibility for a University Bursary.

Step 2
If you did not give your consent for your information to be shared with us, you and any sponsors should contact Student Finance to rectify this. You and your sponsors will need your Student Support Number, Customer Reference Number (formerly known as ART ID) and personal password when you call.

Step 3
When you have registered for your course you need to visit one of the University's Computer Rooms to register for IS services (email, portal, on-line library etc).
During this process you will be given a user name and password to access the Student Portal (similar to the Applicants Portal you may have already used). When you log onto the Portal go to the 'ME' tab and you should be able to see the 'Bursary application’ channel. When you click on the link it will advise whether or not we have initially assessed you as being eligible to receive a Bursary.

Step 4
If you are eligible, follow the on-screen instructions to input your bank details via the secure link. Once everything has been accepted you will receive a message of confirmation. Next time you look at the Bursary channel on the Portal it will have changed to show your details have been received and are being assessed. Once assessed, the channel message will change again to confirm the amount of Bursary you will be paid.

Payments will be made in two equal instalments, in mid December and late February, directly into the bank account you have nominated.

Step 5
If the Bursary channel is advising you that you are not eligible for a University Bursary, but you believe you are, please contact the Bursary Team by emailing bursaries@nottingham.ac.uk
