Funding for New Undergraduate students in September 2012

Student funding has changed significantly over the last few years. So before you come to University make sure you understand what you are eligible to apply for. On this page  information is for full time Undergraduate students who normally live in England and have 'home' status. In other words you must have lived in England for more than three years prior to the start of your University course. You must also not already hold an honours degree.

Students who normally live in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland should check their funding with the relevant body.  (See related links)

Living Cost Grant

A non-repayable award to students who come from households where the income level is assessed by Student Finance as being £42,600 or below.  The amount of grant you receive reduces the higher the income.

Living Cost Loan

The maximum loan you can apply for is £5,500  65% of the loan is offered without having your household income assessed.  The amount you receive will also depend on whether you live in rented accommodation or stay at home with your parent/s.

Tuition Loan

The Tuition Loan offered for 2012 will be up to £9,000 which is the annual fee the University of Nottingham will charge for Undergraduate courses from September 2012 .

Information about repaying your student loans

 

BIS announced in March 2012 that the funding package for students who start in September 2012 will be the same in 2012/13, with the exception of the  Grant for Living Costs which will increase from £3,250 to  £3,354.

Tuition fees will remain at a maximum of £9,000 for the year.

From the University

The University will continue to offer a generous Bursary scheme and there are a number of Scholarships offered.  The University is also participating in the National Scholarship Programme.  Visit the Bursaries and Scholarships pages to see what support you may be eligible to apply for.
