Student Finance 2012-13 Case Studies

We have created five case studies outlining the funding a first time, UK 'home'*, undergraduate student at the University of Nottingham may receive, depending on their individual circumstances.

Case Study 1

Chloe lives in Nottingham and comes from a household with an annual income of £24,000.  She plans to come to the University of Nottingham to study for the BA Sociology and will live away from home.

 

Case Study 2

James lives in London and comes from a household with an annual income of £65,000.  He plans to come to the University of Nottingham to study for the BSc Mathematics and will live away from home.

 

Case study 3

Jack lives in Nottingham and comes from a household with an annual income of £15,000.  He plans to come to the University of Nottingham to study for the BMBS Medicine and will live at home with his parents.

 

Case study 4

Emily is a mature student living alone in Nottingham.  She plans to come to the University of Nottingham to study for the BSc Nursing.

 

Case study 5

Lizzie lives in Manchester and comes from a household with an annual income of £40,000.  She plans to come to the University of Nottingham to study for the Master of Pharmacy and will live away from home.

 

* A 'home' student is one who meets certain UK residence criteria. These are the same criteria as apply to eligibility for home funding from Student Finance.
