How to apply for the Core Bursary*

We have tried to make the application procedure for the Core Bursary as simple as possible; just follow the step by step guide below.

Step 1

When you complete your online or paper application for financial support from Student Finance, you and your sponsor/s (usually parent/s or a partner), on the relevant section of the application, must agree to share your financial information with the University. This will enable your household income information to be shared with us so that we can assess your eligibility for a University Bursary.

Note: If you did not give your consent for your information to be shared with us, you and any sponsors should contact Student Finance on 0300 100 0607 to rectify this. You and your sponsors will need your Student Support Number, Customer Reference Number and personal password when you call. Following this it may take a few days for the updated information to come through to our systems, so please allow three working days before attempting to apply. 

Step 2

You will need to fully complete registration before you can apply for your bursary. Freshers will need to complete on-line registration and in-person registration (this will be done at the registration event at the start of term). Returning students will just need to complete on-line registration. In both instances, please leave 48 hours from completing registration before applying for your core bursary in order to give the system time to update your registration.

Step 3

Once registration is complete you should apply for the bursary via the Core Bursary application site. When you click on the link, it will ask you to enter your login details (the same as your standard University network log in). You will then be advised whether or not we have initially assessed you as being eligible to receive a bursary.

Note: If the Bursary link advises you that you are not eligible for a University Bursary, but you believe you are and you have left 48 hours from the time of completing your registration, please contact the Bursary Team by emailing bursaries@nottingham.ac.uk

If you are eligible, follow the on-screen instructions to input your bank details via the secure link.  Once assessed, the Core Bursary application site will be updated with confirmation of your award.

IMPORTANT: Please ensure the bank details you enter are correct. Entering incorrect details may result in a delay to your payment or, in the case of a payment being misdirected to another valid account, no payment being made.

Payments will be made in three instalments, in early November, January and May (at the start of the Spring and Summer terms respectively), directly into the bank account you have nominated.

The closing date to apply for the 2017/18 Core Bursary is 22nd June 2018.
