Journal "table of contents" alerts
You can request email notification when a when a new issue of a specific journal title is made available using a Table of Contents (TOC) alert. This will also cover conference proceedings.
You will often receive the alert in advance of print publication. You can sign up to receive alerts either from a general TOC service, such as ZETOC, or directly from the journal publisher, such as Wiley, Oxford University Press, Sage, Springer, and many more. Here are 2 examples:
Covering all subject areas, the ZETOC service provides access to the British Library's Electronic Table of Contents (ETOC).
The database contains details of approximately 20,000 current journals and 16,000 conference proceedings published every year.
ZETOC covers the years from 1993 to date and is updated daily. Zetoc's help pages explain how to set up an alert.
ScienceDirect covers more than a quarter of the world's scientific, medical and technical information online, covering physical sciences and engineering, life sciences, health sciences, social sciences and humanities.
The collection contains over 2,000 peer-reviewed journals from which to receive tables of contents.
