Specific information for students in the UK

  • Inter site loans and pickup libraries

If the book you want is currently on loan you can request it.

When you reserve/request a book, you can select your preferred pickup library from the drop down menu.

If the book is held at another University of Nottingham library, even if it is not currently on loan, the Inter Site Loans  service enables you to request it to be sent to the library of your own choosing.

Print journals should always be consulted at the library where they are located. However, students based at the Sutton Bonington campus can request photocopies of journal articles from other UK University of Nottingham libraries and vice versa.  Please note that there is a charge made for these photocopies and it is not normally possible to lend whole volumes between campuses

  • Notification that the book is available

After you reserve/request a book, you will receive an email to your university email account or printed letter to inform you that the book is available. Please collect it within 7 days.

George Green, Hallward and Business libraries operate self service collection of hold (reservation) requests. Your item will be shelved within the short loan collection under your initials followed by your library system number. Items should be collected from the lending desk at all other libraries

  • Reserving/Booking books in the Short Loan Collection

There is a booking system for the Short Loan Collection which enables you to book (reserve) a book for a specific loan period up to 2 weeks in advance by selecting the 'booking' option on NUsearch. You may not book an item which you currently have on loan.

The book will be held for you to collect from short loan for 90 minutes from the start of the loan period.

See podcasts for more information on using short loan.

A journal which appears with a Central Store location can be reserved by clicking on the Store Request option within NUsearch.
