Societies

The University of Nottingham currently has nearly 200 societies for students to get involved in covering a broad range of subjects and interests, ranging from:

• current and world affairs
• hobbies and interests
• religious and cultural

Sports clubs 

The Athletic Union currently runs 76 sports clubs for students to participate in, whatever their interest or ability. These include sports as diverse as badminton, dodge ball, cheerleading, caving, snow sports, Ultimate Frisbee, martial arts, water sports, men and women's football, rugby and hockey, croquet, cycling and much more.

They also hold a number of events throughout the year.

There are many student-run groups to get involved with at the University:

• Week One ─ the committee who coordinate Freshers’ Week
• The Nottingham New Theatre ─ the first fully student-run theatre in England
