All staff and students have some personal responsibility for the environmental impact of their actions at the University. We aim to raise awareness of this environmental impact and, working closely with the Students' Union, provide a range of ways for staff and students to get involved in creating a leading green University.

  • Get further ideas from two short films created by Nottingham students: A day in the life of a green student or 10 tips for greener living
  • Make sure everyone in your hall knows about the Go Greener Halls Competition
  • Volunteer as an Environmental Champion for your course
  • Put yourself forward as the Environment and Social Justice Rep for your hall of residence and become part of the JCR
  • Get growing – there’s an allotment at Sutton Bonington and one on University Park. Contact the Student Volunteer Centre for details of getting involved with the University Park allotment project. 
  • Join the Environment and Social Justice Committee or the Student Ethical and Environmental Network (aka SEEN) - contact the SU's Environment and Social Justice Officer for more information
  • Volunteer with the University’s Grounds team on practical biodiversity and landscaping projects - contact the Student Volunteer Centre for more information
