Curriculum design

Course design is where development of the whole individual is considered, including subject-specific knowledge and skills development, and the transferable, or key, skills that contribute to our understanding of what makes a Nottingham graduate.

The school office is the first place to consult to find out about basic procedures, forms and deadlines.

Constructive alignment in a nutshell

Biggs' (1999) idea of "alignment" establishes a connection between the intended learning outcomes for students, the learning activities in which they engage, and how assessment measures success in meeting the outcomes. The "constructive" element refers to the learning process as one where students build understanding in a context of previous knowledge, motivations, and climate/ethos of the course.

It's an approach that places the student at the centre of the learning experience and acknowledges the diversity students bring to their studies.
