The Teaching and Learning Strategy (2011-2015)

Teaching and Learning Strategy (2011-2015)
The Teaching and Learning Strategy identifies the core principles that underpin teaching and learning, details the activities and arrangements that flow from those principles, and identifies priorities for action in the period.

Grand Challenges

The University has identified a number of Grand Challenges as areas in which to focus development activity. Current Grand Challenges (and lead academics) are:

  • Internationalising the curriculum (Stephen Doughty, Vice-Provost for Teaching and Learning, UNMC)
  • Sustainability (Sarah Speight, Education)
  • Assessment in the Digital Age (Martin Binks, Business School)
  • Tutoring (Sue Pryce, University Senior Tutor, Politics)

Updates are made available vis the Teaching and Learning Network, and in the Hub magazine.

The Quality Manual

The Quality Manual
The Quality Manual acts as a central source of information for policies and procedures which support the University in its aim to assure the quality of its learning, teaching and supervision. Quality assurance procedures are managed at school level and details adapted to suit local conditions.

Includes policies and procedures relating to teaching performance, such as Activity Review and promotions.

Contribute to discussions

Teaching policy

Staff are invited to contribute to discussions about teaching and learning policy developments

Senior tutors

Senior Tutors meet regularly to discuss relevant policy and to share practice.
