It is the date of the Earth’s creation, according to some — 23rd October 4004 BC. On the anniversary of that date — 6,013 years later — Bibledex came to pass. The University of Nottingham’s new website features videos which provide unusual insights into the greatest story ever told. Eventually every book in the Bible, all 66, will be retold and discussed in a series of short informative videos filmed and produced by the University’s award-winning film maker in residence and video journalist Brady Haran.
The films about what is probably the most famous collection of books in history will reveal that the Old Testament book Song of Songs is basically a poem about sex and bands from U2 to Boney M. have based some of their songs on the book of Psalms. They will tell the online audience curious and interesting things about a book which many of us are familiar with — but really most of us know very little about it.
The project is being led by Dr Karen Kilby, Head of the Theology and Religious Studies Department. She said: “The Department is delighted to have a chance to communicate something of what we do in a new way, and fascinated to watch how Brady will put the project together”.
