What’s TruView?
TruView is a clever
application from
Leica Geosystems
that allows you to
view actual survey
data over the web.
You can explore,
rotate, zoom in
and out, and even
take measurements
from the original
survey data.
Because of the size
of the files, the
TruViews you see
on this website are low-resolution versions of the originals. Even so they are big
files and will take a while to load fully. If you want to see the originals, please
contact us.
How do I use it?
You need to download the plug-in for Internet Explorer (13.7MB) from here. It’s
a Windows .exe installer file. Double-click on the file once it’s downloaded and
follow the instructions. You’ll probably need to restart your browser. Then feel
free to explore! You can’t break anything.
I don’t use Internet Explorer!
Well, neither do I, but the plug-in is only available for IE. However, if you use
Mozilla Firefox, you can download an add-on called IEtab from here that allows
Firefox to correctly run this (and other) Internet Explorer applications.
Once it’s installed you have to click on the small Firefox icon at the bottom right
of the Firefox window. This will change to an Internet Explorer icon, and you’re
ready to go.
I don’t use Firefox either, and I don’t run Windows!
You might have to use your ingenuity here. If you run Linux you might be able to
get the TruView plug-in to work under Wine. If you have a Mac you’re outside my
sphere of knowledge. Safari, Opera and Chrome might have plug-ins similar to
IEtab for Firefox. If you get it to work, do contact us and we’ll update this page,
with a credit to your knowledge.
