Western Caves - system BI5
The Western Caves are a series of chambers
to the west of, and now accessed through,
the Broadmarsh Centre City of Caves. These
caves were originally cut back into the cliff-
face, and would once have been open to the
south, or fronted by buildings. They are
similar in this respect to the rest of the
Broadmarsh caves. The front of the caves has
been destroyed now by the concrete of the
Broadmarsh Centre.
The original use of any of these caves is hard
to ascertain but at least one of the caves was
used as a stable before 1900.
These caves are still being investigated by
the NHAS.
