      Surveying

Trent & Peak Archaeology undertakes a broad range of survey work, from traditional building surveys through excavation and topographic survey to cutting-edge high-definition survey.

Trent & Peak was one of the first archaeological units to recognise the benefits of digital surveying techniques, employing Topcon total stations on site from the start of the 1990s. TPA remains at the forefront of archaeological surveying today through the use of high-definition laser scanners. Our close links with the University of Nottingham's Institute of Engineering Surveying and Space Geodesy (IESSG) gives us unparalled access to cutting-edge equipment and technical expertise, while forty years' experience in the execution and interpretation of archaeological survey ensures results of the highest quality.

Images on this page include recent TPA research and commercial survey projects at Pinxton Castle, Derbyshire, and the Bridlesmith Gate caves, Nottingham.

For further information about surveys, contact Dr David Walker or Richard Sheppard at Trent & Peak Archaeology.
