Using this Website

This site does not contain all the information you require!

It is not simply lecture handouts published on the web! Instead it is designed to provide an introduction to topics, and to help you explore these topics in more detail. You will find lots of links to sites which we feel are useful. These are by no means the only useful sites however – try your own searches for more information.

Some search tips

The internet contains a lot of useless information so you must be careful and assess the quality of anything you find. When looking at other sites, try asking yourself the following questions:

Look at Media Sites

Transport issues are regularly in the news. Looking at what the media report is a good way of staying in touch with recent developments and changes in transport policy.

Try searching the BBC News archives. To access all the latest stories surrounding a topic, simply type the topic title into the 'search' box in the top righthand corner of the BBC news web page.

You can also look through the archives of programmes such as Newsnight, Panorama, and Channel 4 News. They often have transcripts of interviews and reports relating to transport news stories. Use the site search tools to find transport stories. Similarly, some newspapers archive their reports relating to certain issues on the web.

Some Suggested Sites

Many transport related organisations have web-sites publishing their views. Looking through these will help you develop good background knowledge to all the important issues. Many have 'news' sections which will also help you keep up to date. Try looking at a few of these to get a different perspective on stories:
