Who are we?
The University and College Union, UCU, is the trade union and professional association for nearly 120,000 UK higher education professionals. (On 1 June 2006, the Association of University Teachers -- AUT -- merged with NATFHE, the National Association of Teachers in Further & Higher Education to form a single union representing staff in tertiary education.)
We provide high quality support and services for academics, researchers, administrators, librarians, computer staff and postgraduate tutors. At the University of Nottingham, the staff categories we represent are identified as
- all staff who fall within the Research & Teaching Job Family;
- staff in the APM (Administrative, Professional & Managerial) Job Family at Level 4 and above; and
- postgraduates who work for the University in roles analogous to the above, such as demonstrating and teaching/tutoring.
