Course overview

Agriculture and environmental science have traditionally been seen as separate subjects. However, many of today’s problems - and career opportunities - require an understanding of both. Climate change, nitrate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions are some of the environmental issues that have an effect on the production of crops and animals, either directly (eg warmer temperatures) or indirectly (eg environmental regulations that affect land management). In turn, one of the most challenging global problems we face is how to reduce our impact on the environment while maintaining food – and increasingly – biofuel supplies.

This degree is ideally suited to students who want an applied science degree that covers these increasingly important interactions between agriculture and the environment.

Core modules will develop your scientific understanding; optional modules will give you the opportunity to tailor your degree to suit your interests.
