Course overview
This course is the same as BSc Animal Science (D320), except you have the opportunity to spend an extra year studying your course abroad at one of our partner institutions in mainland Europe, in the language of the host institution. except you have the opportunity to spend an extra year studying your course abroad at one of our partner institutions in mainland Europe, in the language of the host institution.
Prior to placement you undertake a special European module (including language study) in your second year at Nottingham to improve your knowledge of the scientific and cultural aspects of your chosen country.
The placement is in your third academic year and many students take the opportunity to spend the summer in their host country before returning to Nottingham in September for their final year.
The additional language skills, experience and maturity gained can provide a considerable employment advantage in a competitive job market.

Entry requirements
A levels: ABB-BBB, including at least two science subjects at A level, preferably biology and chemistry (can include maths and geography), which must be grade B minimum;and an additional A level or equivalent. Second modern language other than English to grade B at GCSE minimum in the language of the host institution.
English language requirements
IELTS 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any element)
TOEFL iBT 87 (no less than 21 in listening and writing, 22 in reading and 23 in speaking)

Notes for applicants
Please note that the marks you are awarded as part of your Certificate in European Studies do not count towards yours BSc degree classification.

Students on the European Certificate course will have international experience and language skills.
Professional accreditation
When combined with course modules specialising in animal nutrition, this course is accredited by The Association for Nutrition. After graduation you will be eligible to join their register of nutritionists.
