Course overview

Please note: This course is for International (non-EU) students only.

This course starts in September and is available for full-time study only.

The foundation certificates are one-year, full-time courses, designed for international students (non-EU whose first language is not English) of high academic ability who need extra study to reach the level required for entry to a bachelors degree. The courses are recognised as equivalent to A levels and as an entry route into a range of popular courses at Nottingham and other universities in the UK.

We are offering two pathways, both of which are taught by University tutors on Jubilee Campus alongside other undergraduate students:

• Foundation Certificate in Business
• Foundation Certificate in Arts and Social Sciences

Careers

You will be guaranteed a conditional offer for most of the courses offered by Archaeology, American and Canadian Studies, Contemporary Chinese Studies, Education, Film and TV Studies, Geography, International Media and Communications, Law, Politics and International Relations, and Sociology and Social Policy. The Certificate can also be considered for entry to other arts or social sciences programmes at Nottingham, but applications will be considered on an individual basis and offers are not guaranteed. Students can also us the certificate to apply for similar degree programmes at other universities. 

Conditional offers from The University of Nottingham usually stipulate the following:

Politics and international relations, geography and law courses:

A distinction grade (70 per cent overall average) with 70 per cent in the English language modules and no less than 60 per cent in any other module.

Other courses

An overall average of 65 per cent with an average of 70 per cent across the English language modules.
