Course overview
The Foundation Certificate in Business is a one-year full-time foundation programme, which provides a suitable route for international students wishing to apply for undergraduate degree programmes at
Nottingham University Business School and the
School of Economics, or for those looking to apply to similar programmes at other UK universities. The programme is designed primarily for international students whose first language is not English and whose school-leaving qualifications do not allow immediate admission to undergraduate degree programmes in Britain.
The year
Over 50 per cent of the programme is devoted to improving academic oral and written communication, information technology, and study skills. These are developed within a context of discussion about global developments in economics, politics, business, society, media, culture and the environment. Some modules on the programme are taught by academic staff at the Business School, and provide an introduction to business and economics. All modules provide work on critical thinking, academic literacy, and communication skills needed for study at undergraduate level.
