University life is packed full of new challenges and, unsurprisingly, there might be times when things get a little overwhelming. That’s why our Student Services are always there to support you.

What if… I have personal difficulties?
Our free, confidential Counselling Service provides an opportunity to talk to professionally qualified counsellors experienced in dealing with study-related problems and personal issues such as anxiety, depression, family concerns, bereavement, difficulties in adjusting to university life.

What if…I have financial difficulties?
Our Financial Support Team can offer advice and information on all aspects of student finance including University and government funding. The team administers undergraduate bursary schemes at Nottingham as well as a number of other funds, and is responsible for the administration of student loans within the University. Detailed information on all the services offered can be found on their website.

What if… I have a disability?
Academic Support incorporates The Dyslexia Support and Disability Support teams and The University of Nottingham ACCESS Centre (UNAC) which provides assessments for students who have applied for Disabled Students’ Allowances.
Disability Support in Student Services assists you with any disability issues including reasonable adjustments in the learning, teaching and assessment environments, recommendations for alternative assessment and timetable arrangements, access to Braille and large print publications, individual specialist support, residential accommodation and accessible transport.
Disability Policy Advisory Unit (DPAU)The Disability Policy Advisory Unit can assist with queries on
University policy and procedures relating to disability, and the
University’s compliance with the Special Educational Needs and
Disability Act 2001 and the Disability Discrimination Act 2005.
Disability Liaison Officers (DLO)
Each School appoints a Disability Liaison Officer who offers advice and guidance on disability issues and the support available.
The DLOs are part of a network that meets regularly to share information and good practice.

What if… I am unwell?
Coveniently situated in Cripps Health Centre on University Park Campus, The University of Nottingham Health Service specialises in looking after students and staff at the University. Alongside GPs, a physiotherapist, psychiatrist, general surgeon, and nurse practitioner in mental health are based here. The Centre also houses a dental practice and a pharmacy. Additionally, the Queen’s Medical Centre is situated next to the University Park Campus.

What if… I want to attend services of prayer or worship?
The University brings together people of many different backgrounds and faiths. It is an excellent place to review, develop and celebrate your own beliefs, and to discover or explore the beliefs that are important to other people. A number of resources are available to help you. The Portland Building houses a multi-faith quiet room, Muslim prayer rooms and a chapel. A team of chaplains and faith advisers offer friendship, advice and support as well as services of worship. Similar provision is available at all of our campuses.

What if… I need childcare?
Our day nursery and play-centre provide day care for children aged four months to five years. In addition, a school holiday play scheme (for children aged four-and-a-half years to 12 years), toy library and out-of-school club are available. Demand for places is high and early application is recommended.
Financial assistance may be available. A high quality day nursery is also provided by a private company on the University Park Campus.
