We believe it's important that when we teach our students about business it's more than just a theoretical excercise. They are exposed to real business problems and to individuals with first hand experience of running commercial enterprises or working in the business support professions.
As well as being of great benefit to our students, those who engage with them find it a rewarding experience and can derive real benefits personally and for their business.
Our undergraduate students receive advice and coaching from over 60 business and professional service mentors as part of both our Entrepreneurship and Business and Venture Creation modules.
As well as benefitting our students, the participating mentors gain from the networking opportunities and are invited to UNIEI events, some of which are exclusive to the network.
If you would like to learn more or become part of the mentoring network, please contact Ann Vickers.
As part of their course our MSc Entrepreneurship students spend several weeks working in teams on a live project for a local business. At the end of the project the teams write a report and present their findings to the business. Not only is this of great benefit to the students - it’s one of the things students most like about the course - but if the business agrees with the conclusions they can implement the advice.
The experiences of both representatives of businesses working with student teams and the students themselves can be seen in the following video.
