Professor Karen Cox is Deputy Vice-Chancellor. A Professor of Cancer and Palliative Care and a Registered Nurse, she is a former Head of the School of Nursing at the University of Nottingham. Karen's academic and research interests include information provision, decision-making and quality of life in relation to cancer treatment trials and palliative care. Her research investigates the experiences of patients and their families and examines how they deal with a cancer diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. Her work has been funded by Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, ESRC and the NHS. She studied at King's College London, Oxford Brookes and the University of Nottingham, and has been a Visiting Professor at Trinity College Dublin and Yale University.
