Biography

Naomi booth obtained a BSc (Pharmacology) and a BVSc from the University of Bristol and graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon from the University of Bristol in 2005. Upon graduation Naomi took up the position of Junior Clinical Training Scholar at the Small Animal Teaching Hospital, Liverpool where she gained multidisciplinary experience working alongside experts in the fields of internal medicine, cardiology, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, dermatology, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging and oncology. During this time, Naomi also developed an interest and enthusiasm for undergraduate veterinary education. Naomi moved to private small animal veterinary practice before taking up the post of University Teacher at the SVMS in 2008. Naomi undertook a Masters in Medical Education part time in 2008 and graduated with distinction in 2011.

Expertise Summary

Naomi is responsible for the Animal Care and Behaviour module in the preliminary year, providing students with a strong foundation in the skill base for entry to the five year course. Naomi is also module convenor for the practical skills module, delivered throughout the curriculum. In this role Naomi delivers numerous, innovative, practicals on a variety of essential clinical skills helping to prepare students for their placements and final year rotations, as well as liaising with other deliverers and module convenors to help streamline and maximise student learning opportunities. Naomi is also deputy rotation leader at the PDSA clinic, a charity hospital based in Nottingham, with a particular interest in diagnostic imaging.
