Biography:

I graduated from the University of Nottingham as a veterinary surgeon in 2013 and started my PhD in October 2013, after obtaining funding for a 4 year PhD from the University of Nottingham.  In addition to my PhD, I also spend approximately 10% of my time working in first opinion equine ambulatory practice at one of the Universities Clinical Associate practices.

Degree Registration:

PhD, due for completion in January 2018.

School Research Theme:

Population Health and Welfare

Research Topic:

Maximising the impact of evidence-based research in primary care veterinary medicine to improve equine health and welfare.

Summary of Research:

Equine 'first opinion' veterinary medicine is an area which is lacking in research.  This research aims to assess the conditions that are presented in first opinion equine practice and those that have a major impact on horse owners.  These results will then be used to implement dissemination strategies to assist in the use of evidence based medicine in the equine primary care setting.  The impact of dissemination will then be assessed and evaluated.
