Biography:

I graduated with a BSc in Veterinary Medicine and Science from University of Duhok-Iraq in 2005. After that, I stared to work as a demonstrator in the School of Veterinary Medicine from the same University for more than two years. I obtained MSc degree in Veterinary Clinical Pathology from Duhok University, graduating in 2010. My MSc research was focused on Haematological and Serological study of Anaplasma Ovis in goat in Duhok province, Kurdistan Region-Iraq. In 2012, I started a PhD in the school of Veterinary Medicine and Science at the University of Nottingham and my research is focused on mapping antibody mediated immune responses to Salmonella enterica infection by Next generation sequencing.

Degree Registration:

PhD in Veterinary Medicine and Science (2012-2015)

School Research Theme:

Animal Infection and Immunity

Research Topic:

Investigation of antibody-based recognition of infections with Salmonella enterica serovars Enteritidis and Typhimurium

Summary of Research:

Salmonella infections cause a significant economic loss on livestock industries. Salmonella enterica serovars Typhimurium and Enteritidis represent a major source of food poisoning in human with the most important reservoirs of infection being contaminated meat and eggs. Pigs and chickens are a significant source of Salmonella for humans, usually transmitted through the consumption of Salmonella contaminated chicken and pork. This project aims to map host antibody responses to Salmonella typhimurium and enteritidis infections to identify Salmonella immunogens for diagnostic assay development and subunit vaccine design.
