Making of Project Genie
Professor Hugh Montgomery (Director, UCL Institute for Human Health and Performance) has interests beyond his groundbreaking research at UCL-- he is also helping to shape the way children view the issue of climate change through Project Genie. Originally conceived of as a storybook to teach schoolchildren about climate change, Project Genie has evolved into an animated film and a curriculum for use in schools.

Application of the Scientific Process
This interactive activity adapted from NOVA provides students a way to gain a more accurate understanding of how science is done. Two videos, which feature the work of renowned scientists Percy Julian and Judah Folkman, demonstrate that while scientists may use an orderly approach to learn new information and solve problems, they proceed along different paths in their quests. The link includes two videos. The first video is about Julian Percy. In the 1930s, chemist Julian Percy joined the r
Special Education Teaching : Teaching Strategies in Special Education
In special education, the standard course of study should be modified and simplified to help kids with special needs to remember. Learn about research-based instructional programs that are used to teach reading in special education with help from a special education teacher in this video (01:39)Â on teaching strategies in special education.

Energy and Electricity in Science : How Does Electricity Light Up a Bulb?
Electricity is used to light up a bulb by heating up the tungsten filament to the point that it glows white. Find out why light bulbs burn out with information from science teacher, Steve Jones. There are English captions.
Science and Math Integrating Literacy in Early Childhood
Explore how early childhood educators and parents can encourage science and math literacy through real world and classroom activities. Experts utilize current research to show how math and science learning can be integrated into early reading activities.
Animal Movement
Biologist Robert Full shares slo-mo video of some captivating critters. Take a closer look at the spiny legs that allow cockroaches to scuttle across mesh and the nanobristle-packed feet that let geckos to run straight up walls. Robert Full studies cockroach legs and gecko feet. His research is helping build the perfect "distributed foot" for tomorrow's robots, based on evolution's ancient engineering. Run time 19:28.
Swamps and Such - Natures Kidneys
This video series from WOSU Public Media uses the example of a wetland to explain the structure and functions of ecosystems and how ecosystems change over time. In these videos meet wetland scientist Dan Fink who hosts the program and examines the types of communities of plants, animals, birds and fish that abound in wetlands, the process of photosynthesis, and the complex relationship between water and productivity. Developed in collaboration with The Ohio State University Olentangy River Wetla
Solar Technology GE researcher Vlatko Vlatkovic discusses solar technology development at GE from the roof of GE's global research center in New York. It is a solar panel test set up. He shows a silicone solar cell and explains how the sun hits the cell and is converted to energy. He explains that the system is still very expensive and not very attractive and how they are trying to produce a more efficient, less expensive, and a better looking u
Antarctica: A Challenging Work Day
For many scientists, having the opportunity to work in Antarctica is a dream come true. Its remoteness and extreme environment make it, arguably, the most untouched region on the planet. Today, more than 20 nations maintain research facilities there under a treaty that dedicates the entire continent to peaceful scientific investigation. In this video segment adapted from NOVA, see how the members of one research team cope with the inhospitable climate and other environmental hazards during their
