Letter from David Beem to his wife Hala (Mahala Joslin) relating the details of a recent battle. Beem's company marched to a secession camp about 14 miles from Cheat Mountain. The fighting was intense with 14 cannons aimed at the rebels. Beem's company was involved in a skirmish with a group of rebels and he helped to take seven rebels prisoner. Beem mentions that a soldier named Myers was killed by a cannon ball and that he has written an account of the soldier's death for the O.C. Journal. Amm
