Christmas Concert (1999) | University of St. Thomas
The annual concert began on campus in 1988, when the Music Departments of St. Thomas and the College of St. Catherine were coordinated. Performances were held at both colleges. By 1993, the departments became independent of each other, and UST continued its concert with its own ensembles. That year the St. Thomas Alumni Association placed a small notice of the concert in one of its annual holiday mailings, and an extraordinary number of alumni called to request tickets. A performance was added.
DMC: Texas Jazz Festival Media Kickoff Party
The Texas Jazz Festival returned to the Harvin Student Center at Del Mar College on Oct. 6, 2010 to launch the 50th anniversary celebration of the festival. A jazz demonstration concert in the student center in 1959 paved the way for the first festival the following year. Performers at the Kickoff Party included the Duke E Brown Band, Eddie Olivares, Jr. Quartet featuring the TJF All Stars and the Del Mar College Jazz Band.

The Protohaus Project
Alfred University MFA student Ann Holley designed and built Protohaus, with about 150 square feet of living space, using as many recycled, reused and/or sustainable materials as possible. The house, located on AU property, is completely "off-the-grid:" powered by solar energy, with propane-powered refrigerator and stove. Holley will live in the house this academic year as both an art and environmental project.
Hyde Award 2010
Outstanding leadership and academic achievement awards were presented to Darden Second Year students at the School's annual awards ceremony September 1, 2010 during First Coffee. The Samuel Forest Hyde Memorial Fellowship, awarded by the Darden faculty, is named for a 1913 graduate of the University of Virginia who later joined the original Darden faculty.
