As protests swarm Egypt, Egyptians abroad are proclaiming solidarity with the anti-government sentiment. In front of the White House in Washington, some 200 people gathered to call upon President Barack Obama to support the plight of the Egyptian people. However, many foreign policy experts have noted that Mubarak is a critical Middle East ally of the United States. Currently, civil unrest pervades Egypt. The masses are demanding an overthrow of Mubarak's 30-year reign.
This class introduces first semester MCP students to the persistent themes and challenges facing planners. The goals of this class are:
to excite students about their chosen profession;
to offer a theoretical framework for thinking about the kinds of interventions that planners are expected to take;
to introduce students to some of the most interesting and challenging theoretical debates in the planning field; and
to press students to think about the best way of using their time to ensure their
