The national crisis in affordable accommodation has hit low income earners hard in Canberra. Even where new public service graduates, students, young families and the unemployed have been able to find accommodation they often can't afford the rents on offer. Demand for public housing and student accommodation far outstrips supply.

ENGAGE at CCA acts as a hub to connect CCA students and faculty with a world outside the classroom by using creative practices to solve pressing social needs. In this course, CCA Writing and Literature chair Aimee Phan and students collaborated with 826 Valencia to mentor high school students in essay writing, in preparation for a book release.

In this course, CCA Ceramics chair Nathan Lynch and his students collaborated with Oikonos eco-science nonprofit and REBAR art, design, and social activism group to design nesting modules to be adopted and protected to the currently threatened rhinoceros aucklet birds living on Año Nuevo Island.

Summer Break 2010: Researching Hip Strength and Motion Injuries
Athletic Training majors Gina Parisi and Carrie Ann Slye worked with professors Susan Rozzi and Yum Nguyen on a study determining the influence of lower extremity hip strength on lower extremity joint motion during functional tasks. They also explored the gender influences of injury during functional activity.
