How Many Kisses Do You Want Tonight? Read-Aloud Online Picture Book
How Many Kisses Do You Want Tonight? by Varsha Bajaj---From bear to butterfly to snake, 10 animal parents--some moms, some dads--ask their little ones the title question: "'How many kisses do you want, young fellow?' Mommy Duck asks, fluffing Little Duck yellow." "'I want TWO,' he says with a quack. 'One on my beak and one on my back.'" Each response is well matched to the creature; Little Spider, for example, wants eight kisses, one for each leg. The game continues until a human Daddy poses the

Simcha Applebaum was born in 1927 in the village of Malcz, Pruzhany (today in Belarussia), to a traditional Jewish family.

No Easy Answers: Decoding the Economy's Mixed Messages
Corporate earnings have surged and stocks have soared, but the housing market is still weak. Interest rates remain low, but are rising. Many countries' economies are perking up, but a jump in commodities prices is producing inflation. Governments in the United States and Europe are wrestling with huge budget deficits and debt problems. For insight, Knowledge@Wharton talks to Wharton professors Jeremy Siegel, Franklin Allen and Susan Wachter.Author(s):

Teaching Western Blots with T antigen and p53
Students perform Western blots with polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of detergent extracts of SV40-transformed cell lines grown in monolayer culture. The gels are blotted onto nitrocellulose and treated with a monoclonal antibody against SV40 T antigen or against the tumor suppressor p53. Blots are then treated with a secondary antibody (anti-mouse IgG conjugated to horseradish peroxidase), and exposed to revealing chemicals and x-ray film. I give one application: induction of p53 by ultraviol

C. elegans is easy to use, transparent, reproduces quickly, and has a cloned genome. All of these factors make it an ideal system for use in introductory, genetics or developmental biology labs. This lab familiarizes students with the life cycle, development, terminology, and common mutant phenotypes of C. elegans. It also introduces the use of GFP transgenic worms to visualize specific cell types in the worm. A detailed sample experiment is included that takes students through using genetic cro

The Holloway Series in Poetry: Joshua Clover
Lively, stylish and "totally great" poetry from a poet of "fierce power." With graduate poet Colin Dingler.
Clover's work has been praised by theorist Judith Butler for the way that it "brilliantly queries our historical moment in and as form" and it is with an intellectual clarity and linguistic sharpness that he undertakes these poetic investigations. Stylish, textured, intricate, irreverent-- Clover's work is studded with intensity, "social passion" and delight. This is what Wallace Stevens
