PediNeuroLogic Exam: Introduction: General Physical Examination
In the neurological assessment of the child don't neglect the general physical examination. Some of the parts of the general examination that are particularly important to note are the following: Somatic growth - measure height and weight and compare percentiles with head circumference; Search for dysmorphic features - carefully study the face especially the midface. There is the old adage that the face reflects the brain because anomalies of the midface are often associated with underlying brai
PediNeuroLogic Exam: Newborn: Abnormal: Reflexes - Deep Tendon Reflexes
Testing deep tendon reflexes on this baby demonstrates that they are present. This is important in trying to sort out if the baby has low tone from an upper motor neuron lesion or if he has a lower motor neuron or muscle disorder. In older children and adults, an upper motor lesion causes spasticity but in babies an upper motor neuron lesion can cause hypotonia. A disease of the lower motor neuron is unlikely with the deep tendon reflexes being present. The baby could still have a muscle disorde

1.3.11 The significance of the near-death experience The sociologist Allan Kellehear (1995) observes that most studies have had a medical focus, investigating whether near-death experiences could be the result of a lack of oxygen to the brain or another medical or psychological cause. Kellehear suggests that the search for psycho-medical explanations has focused on psycho-neurological and defensive mechanisms emphasising altered status of consciousness or physical functioning and not taken into account the meaning of these experiences. Kellehea
1.1 Reporting international financial information This unit is not concerned with how accounting information is captured or stored, nor how it is used internally within an international group, although those are certainly significant issues, but rather with how public financial statements are prepared, audited and used. Essentially, we are dealing with how reports on a company's financial situation are compiled for external purposes and how that compilation is constrained and shaped. Reporting rules are not exactly the same in any two countr

Stratospheric Ozone level for October 1, 1980.
Aerosol concentrations over Indonesia from May 1997 through May 1998 from Earth Probe TOMS
At the end of this lesson you will be able to express problems about items of clothing. You first do exercises involving the imperative mood. You then listen to a model, create your own spoken sentences and check these are correct.
This 15 minute video is about theHardy-weinburg principle. The Hardy-Weinburg principle is the principle thats states that both allele and genotype frequencies stay the same, however there are arguments that randomly breeding may make the Hardy-Weinburg principle not apply. This video uses a graphic cartoon image and lecturer.
The Galant reflex (trunk incurvation) is obtained by placing the baby in ventral suspension, then stroking the skin on one side of the back. The baby's trunk and hips should swing towards the side of the stimulus. A neuroscience tutorial focusing on those aspects of the pediatric neurological examination that are unique to the child's nervous system, with an emphasis on important neurodevelopmental milestones.
Are you a technophobe? Bluetooth, Ethernet WiFi – are they terms that mean nothing to you? This unit will gently guide you to an understanding of how devices 'talk' to each other and what technologies and processes are involved. You will also look at wired and wireless communication technologies, introducing you to some of the key methods involved.
This video focuses on the little jagged worlds (or Inner Rocky Planets) from their birth to this day, and their compositions, structures, and their differences. (08:29)
This seadragon has a snout and you can see one of its eyes. The tube-shaped snout is what the seadragon uses to eat small bits of food with.
A live Daphnia. Note all of the moving structures including the antennae and eyes.

Neuropathology Navigator consists of Neuropathology self-instructional units designed for second-year medical students in a neuroscience systems course. The website can be used online, or can be downloaded for local use. The website has been designed to provide students with easy access and visibility to all topics; after clicking on a topic the sub-topics are listed for easy navigation. Learning goals are to provide a basic framework of neuropathology for second-year medical students with resou
