Japanese architect Terunobu Fujimori visited RMIT Gallery from 28 September to 8 October 2009. Together with architect Jun Sakaguchi and RMIT student volunteers he constructed a contemporary tea house as part of the Shelter: On Kindness exhibition. Use of timber from Victoria’s bushfire affected areas changed the nature of the artwork. It is now called Black Tea House: Memorial to the 2009 Bushfires.
