8.6.1 Gunn and his beliefs
Sunset Song was written in the early 1930s and is still one of the best-known and most-debated Scottish novels. In this unit, we discuss whether Sunset Song succeeds as critique of capitalism and whether it has value as a work of literature separate from its propagandistic ambitions.

ALPS Common Competency Map - Ethical Practice
The work of ALPS is based on the hypothesis that if students receive feedback from different assessors (including other professionals, peers, service-users etc) in diverse practice situations, then confidence, competence, assessment reliability and interprofessional working skills will all be improved. Communication skills, Team Working and Ethical Practice were selected as the initial competences to focus on as they are common across the QAA benchmarks and professional bodies’ regulatory occ

BeeVisit
BeeVisit enables students to evaluate the relative contributions of different pollinator species to a plant's reproductive success through an interactive model of pollen transfer. The model tracks a plant's presentation of pollen through time; pollen may be presented gradually or all at once, and the program lets you choose from a family of power curves to model the shape of the cumulative pollen presentation curve over a set number of time intervals (usually 100). Then, 'bees' of 1, 2, or 3 ty

TALAT Lecture 3210: Continuous Casting
This lecture gives an overview about the possibilities to produce aluminium foilstock and wire-bar in a continuous way. Continuous casting is the preferred casting method in modern plants because it offers higher productivity. But there are limitations in the use of this technology because not all alloys can be cast. The product shows properties that can differ from conventional material. This lecture demonstrates the principal of operation; technologies for continuous casting; types of casters;

TALAT Lecture 1501: Properties, Characteristics and Alloys of Aluminium
This lecture provides a survey of the aluminium alloys available to the user; it describes their various properties; it gives an insight into the choice of aluminium for a proposed application. In the context of this lecture not every individual alloy and its properties have been treated in detail, but rather divided into alloy types with reference to the most commonly used alloys. For further details on alloy properties the reader is referred to available databanks like ALUSELECT of the Europea

Evolution of Media for Early Design Stages
In this paper the evolution of media used at early design stages will be considered. In traditional methods of searching and presenting the design idea, the basic tool used was the graphic representation. Implementation of new digital techniques in 60s - 70s focused on the mathematical way ofrepresentation. These methods were ?not architect friendly? (lack of graphic representation traditionally used by architects). As a result, the development of methods for digital support of form searching wa

The research presents the importance of the experimentations within education of architecture project. Since the studies for traditional and emergent ways with use them digital tools, it values the project inquiries in the simulations of the models in 3D. For many times, the digital model for being tangible cannot present a difficulty in the understanding of constructive details. As in the digital tools, more specifically BIM (Building Information Modeling) possess integrated standards complex.

Sheaf-like arrangement of lamellae in a blend of polyethylenes
A replica of a 3:1 blend of linear with lightly branched polyethylenes (BPE has 26 branched per 1000 backbone carbon atoms) after isothermal crystallisation at a temperature at which the LPE but not the BPE can crystallise. This sample crystallised from a phase separated melt. There are clearly two lamellar types (The isothermal crystallisation makes the distinction clearer). The thick, LPE rich, lamellae crystallised in sheaf-like groups, from LPE rich droplets contained in a BPE rich matrix.

Spatial Analysis for Museum Design
The paper describes how a specially written customisation of AutoCAD enables students of Architecture to use the method of spatial analysis called Space Syntax developed by Professor Bill Hillier of the Bartlett School of Architecture, London, to examine a number of existing museums, to compare the findings against other criteria, and to draw conclusions about the strategy adopted in museum design. Simple interactive graphics enable plans to be entered and compared, so that they may be evaluated
