How to scaffold the students to design experimental procedures? A situation experienced by 108 high-
This paper presents a proposition to improve the construction of concepts when doing experimental activities, and, in fact, to improve the construction of sense in experimental activities. This research involved 108, 17-18 year old students designing an experimental procedure for palaeontology learning. We first developed an analyse of the expert procedure and second, we realised a teaching sequence in which students were led to design an experimental procedure to measure the facial angle of a c

How GRID could improve E-Learning in the environmental science domain
This paper will outline the requirements for an interactive e-learning system defined as part of the German research project GIMOLUS [1]. After a short overview over the Open Grid Service Architecture (OGSA) it will be shown that the capabilities of existing e-learning solutions are too limited in order to fulfil these requirements. The last part will show how a GIMOLUS system could be built using a GRID service architecture and what the benefits are in doing so.

Centrifugal Effect
This simulation represents the case of an object sliding frictionless over the surface of a flat disk that is rotating. I will call the object 'the puck', as in ice hockey. The 'Distance' in the simulation is the distance to the disk's rotation axis. The 'Velocity' is relative to the disk; 0.3 velocity means that at the instant of being launched the puck's velocity relative to the disk is 30% of its co-rotating velocity at that particular distance to the rotation axis. That is, close to the rota
