Pythagorean Theorem
The instructor in this video demonstrates how to find the distance between lines using the Pythagorean Formula. Mr. Khan uses computer software (with different colors) to illustrate his points. Sal Khan is the recipient of the 2009 Microsoft Tech Award in Education.Â
Learning How to Write
Learning to write involves fine motor skills that are developed in children at different ages. Find out how to advance beyond teaching a child to hold a pencil with help from a former classroom teacher. (1:49)
Definition of a Circle - Radius of a Circle
Students learn the definitions of a circle (is a set of points in a plane that are a given distance from a given point in the plane), the given point is called the center, and the distance from the center to the circle is called the radius. Whichever point on the circle is chosen the distance to the center of the circle will be the same, so all radii of a given circle are congruent.  Good quality video for grade four and up.
Radius, Chord, Diameter, and Secant

The Planet Earth
This video discusses the age of the planet, what makes up the planet, the distance around the planet, how much water covers the planet, and the wettest/driest places and hottest/coldest places on Earth. There is also some surprising information. There are awesome pictures and video. This video is set to music, there is no voice or reading. Run time 10:13.
Pluto - Bill Nye the Science Guy
Bill Nye talks about why Pluto should't be called a planet. Bill Nye explains a dwarf planet and explains the process of science and how we continually are learning new things. Run time 01:36.
The Dwarf Planet Pluto
A look at The Dwarf Planet Pluto and interesting facts about the planet. The video shows the layers of Pluto, its diameter, surface conditions, distance from the sun, and how close to the sun it is. This video is set to music so students would need to read the information. Run time 05:45.
Drawing Inferences
A teacher models how to draw inferences from evidence in a CSI text. Â This is a very good example for learning to make logical inferences from text.
a - 2 Initial Sounds
A short video to prompt learning the 'a' phoneme and the A grapheme. Words that start with the letter a are shown on slides along with pictures to match the words as narrator says the words.
Solving Equations - Pre-Algebra
The instructor demonstrates how to solve one-step, two-step, and multi-step equations. Several examples are modeled gradually getting more complex with each. Video is good quality and good for all students as review or initial learning of the concept.
Part 1 - Books, Writing and Creativity
An Australian author explains how to encourage children to be creative and help them enjoy books and writing. He gives tips and ideas for learning activities for children. This is part 1 of 6 parts in the series. The web site is located at: www.writing-for-children.com
Modern Greek
Learn the Greek language by reading the English-Greek translations as actors walk through each lesson in the latest Greek textbook by Papaloizos Publications, "Modern Greek." Greek videos offer learning solutions similar to Rosetta Stone, with modern accounts of activities and words played out by screen actors, and translated in both Greek and English. Written by Greek professor and historian, Dr Theodore Papaloizos, the book "Modern Greek" teaches the language in easy, comprehensible terms that
Sun Dog Reflections
This video shows some sun dogs from the fall of 2006. A sun dog, means beside the sun, is also called a mock sun. It is a particular type of ice halo. It is a colored patch of light to the left or right of the sun, 22 or more degrees distant and at the same distance above the horizan as the sun. This video is set to music, but the pictures are wonderful. Video is good quality and appropriate for any age student. Run time 01:21.
Math Tutoring - Geometry - Quadrilaterals
This introductory video shows students the basic principles of quatrilaterals. Squares, rectangles, and parallel sides are all important concepts that students should know when learning about quadrilaterals.Â
Commutative Property of Addition
Students learn the following addition properties: the commutative property of addition, which states that a + b = b + a. Â Video is good quality and good for all students as review or initial learning of the concept.
Addition Properties
This video discusses the properties of addition. The video startes with solving a simple addition problem using a number line, they then change the order of the problem. This shows the commutative property for addition. Then they show commutative using negative numbers. Then other examples are shown. Then they show problems with parenthesis, which tells the student to do this part first. This shows the associative property for addition. More examples are given. Video is good quality and good for
Properties of Multiplication
This video indicates it is for pre-algebra, however this video would be good for anyone who is review mulitiplication and its properties. This video begins with showing the Commutative Property for Multiplication, which states when two numbers are switched they will have the same product. An example is given with three numbers, this is done from left to right (order of operations). Then they switch what is mulitiplied first the product is the same, this is the Associative Property for Mulitiplic
The Distributive Property
Students learn the distributive property, which states that a(b + c) = ab + ac. In other words, the number or variable that is outside the set of parentheses "distributes" through the parentheses, multiplying by each of the numbers inside. Note that a negative sign outside a set of parentheses can be thought of as a negative 1, so a negative 1 distributes through the parentheses. Video is good quality and good for all students as review or initial learning of concept.Â
Using the Distributive Property
The distributive property is one of the most important and fundamental parts of algebra. In this video the math teacher shows how to break down the equation in to the simplier components. Shows negative numbers also. This is a great beginning video. Video is good quality and good for all students as review or initial learning of concept.
Animals in the Alaskan Waters
This video from Education 2000's Dive Travel shows you various animals in the Alaskan waters. The video shows humpack whales playing and jumping in the distance while a narrator (being interviewed) explains various characteristics and behaviors of the whale along with other animals in the Alaskan waters. The video also addresses sea otters and orcas. Run time 09:07.
