It is part of a teaching professional’s skills to understand the needs of a diverse population of students. This unit introduces the challenges for disabled students who may use computers in different ways when taking part in eLearning or may need alternative teaching methods. It covers the technology and techniques used by disabled students, the adjustments to teaching methods that might be reasonable, design decisions which affect the accessibility of eLearning tools and strategies for evalu
This unit is essential reading if you want to look at, and think about, people's ideas, practices and products to try to understand what they mean. Developing your skill in analysis–interpretation–evaluation and communication is a good and worthwhile investment. Aimed at learners of arts and humanities subjects, you will find this unit invaluable whether you are new to study or more experienced.
Programming as mathematical narrative
This paper describes a narrative-oriented approach to the design and analysis of a computational system and a set of activities for mathematical learning. Our central contention is that programming can offer a key to resolving the tension between the different representational structures of narrative and mathematical formalism. In the course of describing our approach, we make a distinction between the epistemic-cognitive elements of narrative and the social, cultural and affective elements. We
Two Years Of Use Of The Aplusix System
APLUSIX is a learning environment for helping students to learn algebra. This system is designed and developed in the IMAG-Leibniz laboratory. Its basic training mode consists of letting the students perform their owns calculations, thanks to a two-dimensions editor of algebraic expressions, providing feedback on the correctness of the calculations and on the end of the resolution. APLUSIX has now been used for two years at school, in different contexts. One use was made by four teachers during
As sugestões

Off-Task Behavior in the Cognitive Tutor Classroom: When Students "Game The System".
We investigate the prevalence and learning impact of different types of off-task behavior in classrooms where students are using intelligent tutoring software. We find that within the classrooms studied, no other type of off-task behavior is associated nearly so strongly with reduced learning as "gaming the system": behavior aimed at obtaining correct answers and advancing within the tutoring curriculum by systematically taking advantage of regularities in the software's feedback and help. As taught in Autumn Semester 2009/10 The 'Evaluation Techniques' module is one of the core modules taught on the Masters in Public Health which is offered by the Division of Epidemiology and Public Health at The University of Nottingham. This resource includes an overview of the module, a recommended reading list that supports the module and 3 of the 7 lectures that are delivered. Suitable for study at Masters L
Maintain Professional Competence
This unit focuses on three main areas:the evaluation of your own abilities in relation to teaching and learning practice, the identification of areas for professional development, the assessment of professional development opportunities in order to determine suitable options
Business tutor outlines how he has used ipods with students for audio revision guides
The head of Business Studies at New College, Pontefract outlines how he has used ipods with applied business students for final exam revision. He outlines how the students recorded audio revision guides as podcasts. He also provides an evaluation of using the mobiile devices (iPods and HTCs ).

How does the global network infrastructure work and what are the design principles on which it is based? In what ways are these design principles compromised in practice? How do we make it work better in today's world? How do we ensure that it will work well in the future in the face of rapidly growing scale and heterogeneity? And how should Internet applications be written, so they can obtain the best possible performance both for themselves and for others using the infrastructure? These are so
Sea water, maritime transportation and environment
These files outline a general introduction to a joint view of maritime transportation of chemicals, chemistry and the environment. They include study material and self evaluation tests, which could be covered in 5 hours. This material is suitable for 1st year undergraduate students enrolled in Nautical or Maritime Engineering Studies, and also for a general audience.

Ubiquitous Training of Visual-Spatial Skills: On the Development of Mobile Applications Using Handhe
This research project seeks to develop m-learning applications that provide training in visual-spatial skills using wireless handheld mobile devices (e.g. PDAs and cellular phones). The paper acknowledges the role of visual-spatial competence as fundamental in science and most creative endeavors, including its critical role in architectural design. It also recognizes that there is a substantial amount of anecdotal evidence suggesting that undergraduate students in architecture have serious limit

The Reconstruction of the Past: The Application of New Techniques for Visualization and Research in
This paper focuses on the visualization of historical architecture. The application of new Computer-Aided- Architectural-Design techniques for visualization on micro computers provides a technique for reconstructing and analyzing architectural objects from the past. The pilot project describes a case study in which the historical transformation of a town will be analyzed by using three- dimensional CAD models in combination with bitmap textures. The transformation of the historic town will be vi
