Fancy Feet
Students use the engineering design process to solve a real-world problem shoe engineering! Working in small teams, students design, build and test a pair of wearable platform or high-heeled shoes, taking into consideration the stress and strain forces that it will encounter from the shoe wearer. They conclude the activity with a "walk-off" to test their shoe designs and discuss the design process.

Social and Political Structures of Early Modern Europe - European Civilization from the Renaissance
An introduction to European history from around 1500 to the present. The central question that the course addresses is how and why Europe-- a small, relatively poor, and politically fragmented place-- became the motor of globalization and a world civilization in its won right. Put differently how did western become an adjective that, for better and often for worse, stands in place of modern. Our approach will be broadly cultural, i.e. it approaches politics, economics, social life,

The girl is first asked to name the pictures but doesn't cooperate enough to determine if she knows their names. So the examiner switches strategy and asks her to point to the picture he names. She is able to do this for all five pictures. She asserts her autonomy by using her foot instead of her finger. These pictures are from the Denver II. A neuroscience tutorial focusing on those aspects of the pediatric neurological examination that are unique to the child's nervous system, with an emphasis

In this activity, students will learn to identify different opinions related to an issue as well as the things (information, values and beliefs) that influence those opinions. They will use an opinion spectrum to analyze the range of opinions in their classroom on environmental issues and understand how these spectrums can be valuable to engineering design.
