Female desert bighorn sheep in the Sonora desert
Desert bighorn sheep use a lot of energy to regulate their internal temperature in the desert. During the summer the sheep eat plants and drink water every few days. In the winter, desert plants contain enough water for sheep survival.
Energy Choices Game
This board game is used to introduce the concepts of energy use in our lives and the very real impact that personal choices can have on our energy consumption, energy bills and fuel supply. The game begins as each student selects cards that define their mode of transportation and home design. The players roll dice and move around the board, landing on "choice" or "situation" blocks and selecting cards that describe consumer choices and real life events that impact their energy consumption and an
The Strongest Pump of All
In this lesson the students will learn how the heart functions. Students will be introduced to the concept of action potential generation. The lesson will explain how action potential generation causes the electrical current that causes muscle contraction in the heart. Students will be introduced to the basic electrical signal generated by the heart; P, QRS, and T waves. The lesson will approach the heart from an engineering standpoint and encourage students to design ways to improve heart funct
Cerebellar Degeneration - Reflexes Exam - Abnormal (Pathological) Sub-exam - Patient 3

1 Hibernation and torpor: An introduction
Hibernation is an ingenious adaptation that some animals employ to survive difficult conditions in winter. This unit examines the differences between hibernation and torpor, and discusses the characteristic signs of hibernation behaviour. It explores the triggers that bring on hibernation, and whether internal signals or external season cues are predominant. It also examines the physiological adaptations that occur in hibernating animals. This unit builds on and develops ideas introduced in the
2.7 Overcoming problems
Are you about to undertake a PhD in science, technology or mathematics? If so, this unit will help you to examine your work processes. You will consider and develop the nature of postgraduate work and look at the planning of work needed at doctoral level.
1.4.1 Bearings
In this unit you will see first how to convert vectors from geometric form, in terms of a magnitude and direction, to component form, and then how conversion in the opposite sense is accomplished. The ability to convert between these different forms of a vector is useful in certain problems involving displacement and velocity, as shown in Section 2, in which you will also work with bearings.
Sorting Information
You are going to help sort information! We sort information every day and you can use graphs to help you do this!
Alphabetic and multiplicative number systems
In this session you will learn about the Greek acrophonic and alphabetic systems and the Hebrew number system.

Chiton from the California rocky intertidal zone
Chitons have oval shaped, eight segment hard shells that provide protection for their soft shelled bodies. The plates of the shell allow for more flexible movement of the animal. The entire soft body is covered by the shell.
El Nino-La Nina Sea Surface Temperature, Height, and Wind Anomalies: December 1997 through April 200
Sea surface temperature anomaly in colors, sea surface height anomalies in exaggerated height, wind vectors as black arrows
String Telephones
In this activity, students investigate how sound travels through both string and air. First, they analyze the sound waves with a paper cup attached to a string. Then, they combine the string and cup with a partner to model a string telephone. Finally, they are given a design scenario to redesign the string telephone for distance. They think about their model as it compares a modern telephone and the impact the telephone has had on society.

Introduction to Philosophy II
This course is designed as a "topics-based" introduction to philosophy. What this means is that instead of working through the history of philosophy focusing on great historical figures and their views on different topics, we will focus on great philosophical topics and look at what historical and contemporary writers have said about them. Topics to be addressed will include the existence of God, the relation between the mind and the body, human freedom, and the foundations of morality.
