Assessment SATs
Assessment SATs I am completing a study on SATs. I am concentrating on what TGAT intended, how these first thoughts have changed and how SATs are completed now. I have found some articles written by Paul Black but am finding it difficult to find articles written by other authors. I am concentrating on Year 2 and Year 6 SATs, however a tutor said that Year 2 SATs have now been abolished, I cannot find any evidence that this is correct.
Supporting learning with ICT in pre school settings (INTERPLAY project)
This Teaching & Learning Research Briefing presents the findings of a two-year study based in the Institute of Education at the University of Stirling. I am particularly interested in research which outlines how to teach this concept to Key stage 1 pupils to improve childrens perception's of how sound is created with particular reference to 'vibrations'. Government Response to Paul Roberts’ Report on Nurturing Creativity in Young People
The Government’s Response to the Roberts’ Report on Nurturing Creativity in Young People (2006) sets out the steps the government intends to take, through joint DCMS/DfES action. These two reports indicate substantial support for the creativity agenda and provide further evidence of a steady shift in government thinking towards more flexible and innovative approaches. However, they also beg significant questions about the nature and purpose of education.
Turning the Tables: Transforming School Food
This resource is the final report of the School Meals Review Panel, who are an expert panel involving representation from schools, school caterers, public health and environmental interests considered evidence about the state of school meals and made 35 recommendations for improvement, including a set of Standards for school meals to be fully implemented in all schools by 2009. In view of current concerns about school meals, the resource will be of interest to tutors, teachers and trainees.

This project attempted to develop pedagogy appropriate to computer modelling and explored computer based modelling in science teaching with beginning teachers. Science teachers and trainees in partnership with one training provider over three years used the modelling application VnR in science lessons. There was some evidence of pupil progress but the innovation did not survive well in schools. The possible reasons why the innovation was not incorporated into continuing practice are discussed

A short professional development module for ITE providers, institutions and school based mentors which provides tutors with resources and suggestions for building student teachers’ professional attributes, skills and knowledge in order to work effectively to support the learning of bilingual pupils with colleagues in their particular contexts. The resource provides materials for a three hour session which can be used more flexibly in shorter time slots.
