Balance and flux
Ecosystems and populations of organisms within ecosystems function by the principle of balance and flux. Balance can be thought of as a state of equilibrium, or a state of equal changes between two sides. Flux can be thought of as a rate of flow or changes. Possible Locations
Students will use their knowledge of scales and areas to cut out rectangular paper pieces to represent caverns to scale with the maps. These paper cutouts can then be placed on the maps to help students decide where the best locations.
