Mendoza College of Business is hosting a virtual case competition where individual participants can analyze a real-life business challenge offered by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and submit their own one-page proposal for judging by company executives. Registration opening Jan. 17 and a deadline for entries of Feb. 4, 2011.

Chao-Yang Wang, the William E. Diefenderfer Chair of Mechanical Engineering and director of the Electrochemical Engine Center at Penn State, is researching ways of making batteries for electro- and hydro-cars. He seeks to make these batteries more efficient, thus making them more viable for car manufacturers and buyers alike.
World Record! Most basketball half-court shots in one minute
PULLMAN, Wash. -- A record-breaking night Wednesday as Washington State University senior Charlie Vernon reclaims his world record of most basketball half-court shots in a minute, making nine baskets.
Vernon currently is listed in the Guinness World Records with seven baskets, but was unseated in late January by Eric Valentin, a University of Wisconsin -- Green Bay basketball player, who made eight baskets.

This is a student made video about different aspects of Colonial America. It is set to the song "Sweet Home Alabama" and covers the dislike of King George III, taxation without representation, the Stamp Act, the Boston Tea Party, the start of the Revolutionary War, the Boston Massacre, and the Shot Heard Around the World. While none of these topics are covered in detail, the video would be great to show as an introduction or perhaps an example for your own classroom projects. (5:06)
