A History of the County of Lancaster: Volume 3
The local history of most of Merseyside east of the Mersey, from Sefton in the north to Speke in the south, and including Warrington, Widnes and Ormskirk. The City of Liverpool itself is covered separately in volume 4.

Covers the parishes of Hurstingstone and Toseland hundreds, in the east and south of the county. Includes accounts of the towns of Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots.
A History of the County of Sussex: Volume 4 - The Rape of Chichester
Covers the area surrounding Chichester, from Selsey on the south coast to Midhurst to the north, and from Bognor Regis in the east to the county border with Hampshire in the west. The city of Chichester itself is covered in volume 3.
A History of the County of Stafford: Volume 14 - Lichfield
A detailed thematic account of the city of Lichfield and outlying townships, including Burntwood.
A History of the County of Gloucester: Volume 4 - The City of Gloucester
The volume takes both a chronological and a thematic approach to the history of the City from before the Norman Conquest to the twentieth century.
A History of the County of Durham: Volume 3
Covers the cathedral city of Durham, including an account of the cathedral itself. Also covers Stockton ward in the south-east of the county (bordering North Yorkshire) including Hartlepool and Stockton on Tees.
A History of the County of Buckingham: Volume 3
Covers the three hundreds of Chiltern in the south of the county, and Cottesloe in the east. Includes the boroughs of Amersham, Buckingham and High Wycombe. Also includes some areas now in Berkshire, including Eton and Slough.
A History of the County of Hampshire: Volume 3
Covers eastern Hampshire, including Portsmouth, Southampton, Petersfield and Havant.
A History of the County of Bedford: Volume 3
Covers six of the nine hundreds of the county, including the towns of Leighton Buzzard and Dunstable and the county town and borough of Bedford.
A History of the County of Hampshire: Volume 5
A part-volume covering the cathedral city of Winchester, Christchurch and the parishes of the Isle of Wight.
A History of the County of Essex: Volume 7
Covers the ancient parishes, formerly within the liberty of Havering-atte-Bower and now within the London borough of Havering, and those in Chafford hundred in western Essex now bordering London. It includes accounts of Hornchurch, Romford, Havering and Rainham.
A History of the County of Essex: Volume 6
Includes parishes of Becontree hundred now within the London boroughs of Newham, Waltham Forest and Redbridge. These include West and East Ham, Walthamstow and Wanstead. The rest of the hundred is treated in volume 5.
A History of the County of Essex: Volume 5
Provides a thematic account of the growth of metropolitan Essex since 1850. Also contains topographical accounts of Barking, Ilford, Dagenham and other areas of Essex now within greater London.
A History of the County of Surrey: Volume 4
Covers the areas in the north and east of the county, including much of what is now south London. Areas covered include Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Merton and Sutton, as well as the part of the east of the historic county not now within Greater London, around Oxted, Caterham and Lingfield.
A History of the County of Hertford: volume 2
This volume covers the south and west of the county and includes areas, such as Barnet and Elstree, that are now within greater London. It also includes a detailed account of the city and cathedral of St Albans.
A History of the County of Berkshire: Volume 3
Covers the eleven hundreds in the eastern half of the county, bordering Surrey, Buckinghamshire and Hampshire. The volume includes accounts of Maidenhead, Windsor (including Windsor Castle), Wokingham and Reading.
A History of the County of Worcester: volume 3
Covers two parts of the historic county: firstly, the hundred of Halfshire in the north-east, which includes several areas now within the greater Birmingham area, including Dudley, Halesowen and Yardley. Accounts are given of Kidderminster, Droitwich and Alvechurch. Secondly, the volume also covers the hundred of Oswaldslow, which largely encircles the city of Worcester.
A History of the County of Surrey: Volume 3
Covers the south and west of the historic county, from Godalming hundred in the south to Kingston-upon-Thames in the north, now part of Greater London. Also includes accounts of (amongst others) Dorking, Guildford, Reigate and Walton on Thames.
A History of the County of Hertford: volume 3
Covers the northern and eastern parts of the county, including accounts of Baldock, Bishop's Stortford, Hitchin and Letchworth, as well as the county town of Hertford.
A History of the County of Worcester: volume 4
This volume covers the city of Worcester, as well as parishes in the hundreds of Pershore and Doddingtree, in the south and west of the county. These include the towns of Pershore, Great Malvern and Hanley Castle.
