James Whitcomb Riley spent a good deal of time in Delphi, Indiana and it was considered his second home. About one mile east of the site of this covered bridge over Deer Creek, is where he wrote his famous poem about fishing “On the Banks O’ Deer Crick.” The covered bridge here was built between 1840 and 1850 as part of a plank road that ran from Pittsburg through Delphi to Frankfort. It was replaced by a new bridge in 1936.,Carroll County Journey

The Northeastern men's hockey team earned its first point of the season on the road and blemished No. 7 Merrimack's perfect record with a 1-1 tie on Friday night at Lawler Arena.
Junior Justin Daniels netted his team-leading fifth goal 57 seconds into the third period to tie the game as the Huskies defense was anchored by astute play from third-year backstopper Chris Rawlings. Rawlings stopped 34 shots compared to Merrimack's Joe Cannata who turned aside 30 shots on the night.

Scientists slow aging in fruit flies
Nov. 22 - Scientists at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) have slowed the aging process in fruit flies, by manipulating a gene that is also present in humans. Their experiments extended the lives of the insects by as much as 50 percent although the researchers say it's too early to tell if the results could be replicated in humans. Rob Muir reports.
