Getting to the Point
In this lesson, students learn how to determine location by triangulation. We describe the process of triangulation and practice finding your location on a worksheet, in the classroom, and outdoors.
Learning Light's Properties
Students learn the basic properties of light the concepts of light absorption, transmission, reflection and refraction, as well as the behavior of light during interference. Lecture information briefly addresses the electromagnetic spectrum and then provides more in-depth information on visible light. With this knowledge, students better understand lasers and are better prepared to design a security system for the mummified troll.
Park It!
The difference between an architect and an engineer is sometimes confusing because their roles in building design can be similar. Students experience a bit of both professions by following a set of requirements and meeting given constraints as they create a model parking garage. They experience the engineering design process first-hand as they design, build and test their models. They draw a blueprint for their design, select the construction materials and budget their expenditures. They also te
How Much Heat Will It Hold?
Students relate thermal energy to heat capacity by comparing the heat capacities of different materials and graphing the change in temperature over time for a specific material. Students learn why heat capacity is an important property of thermal energy that engineers use in many applications.
Simple Harmonic Motion (Part 1)
An introduction to simple harmonic motion through demonstrations and animated sequences.
Muscle and Motion - Anatomy of the Muscular System
This 2:36 video is a dynamic visual resource that makes musculoskeletal anatomy and kinesiology easier to understand. There isn't a narrator and so the teacher can stop the video as the muscles and movements are shown. Excellent graphics.

STS-134 Daily Mission Recap - Flight Day 1
A video recap of flight day 1 of the STS-134 mission of space shuttle Endeavour to the International Space Station.
STS-134: Rendezvous Pitch Maneuver
On May 18, 2011, space shuttle Endeavour performed the Rendezvous Pitch Maneuver, or "backflip." With Commander Mark Kelly at the helm, Endeavour rotated 360 degrees backward to enable International Space Station astronauts to take high resolution pictures of the shuttle's heat shield.

136: Can your business plan survive this stress test?
The road to success is littered with the wreckage of strategies gone awry. Here is a six-step stress test for your strategy.
Effectiveness of instructional strategies based on schema theory on attention deficit disorder child
A review of the literature reveals that there are a
number of children in the educational system who are
characterized by Attention Deficit Disorder. Further
review of the literature reveals that there are
information processing programs which have had some
success in increasing the learning of these children.
Currently, an information processing program which is
based on schema theory is being implemented in Lincoln
County. Since schema theory based programs build

Comparative study of bovine heart and bacillus subtilis cytochrome c oxidase vesicles and the influe
Studies on the steady state behavior of soluble cytochrome c oxidase are
extensive. These studies have examined the influence of ionic strength and pH
and may provide answers to questions such as the link between proton
translocation and charge separation. The present study examined the influence
of external bulk pH on ApH formation, biphasic kinetics, and steady state
reduction of cytochromes c and a of cytochrome c oxidase in proteoliposomes.
Bulk pH has an appreciable effect on ApH formation
Chelated fluoroboron cations : synthesis and multinuclear nmr studies
The preparation of chelated difluoroboron cations (DD)BF2+, where DD is a
saturated polydentate tertiary-amine or polydentate aromatic ligand, has been systematically
studied by using multinuclear solution and solid state nuclear magnetic resonance
spectroscopy and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry. Three new methods of
synthesis of (DD)BF2+ cations are reported, and compared with the previous method of
reacting a chelating donor with Et20.BF3. The methods most effective for aromatic donor
Papers of Abraham L. Wolk, 1937-1968
Abraham L. Wolk was born in 1891 and was a Pittsburgh jurist and a former Pittsburgh city councilman whose interests included smoke control, industrial health programs, the "Pay-as-you-go" tax program, and the Civic Light Opera. The collection contains correspondence, memoranda and notes, writings, speeches, memorabilia, photographs and scrapbooks. The scrapbooks have been microfilmed.
Herman Stearns Davis Papers, 1893-1932
Herman Stearns Davis, an astronomer educated at Princeton and Columbia University, worked for Columbia University, the U.S Coast and Geodetic Survey, the International Latitude Observatory, the cities of Pittsburgh and New York, the Gulf Refining Company and the Carnegie Institution during his career. The collection contains personal correspondence, a manuscript, notebooks, and newspaper clippings pertaining to astronomy.
Guide to the Harry Phillips Davis Collection, 1915-1944
Harry Phillips Davis was a mechanical and electrical engineer who worked for the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company. He eventually rose to the position of Vice-President in charge of Manufacturing and Engineering for Westinghouse. During his tenure, Davis helped bring about the first commercial radio station in the United States, KDKA. His papers consist of memorandum, correspondence, biographical information, clippings and material from his estate.
