Serial Dilution of Food Coloring Dye
Students use dyes to explore serial dilution, an important technique in physical science and engineering. Students systematically dilute solutions of food coloring with pure water. They observe how the color intensity, or saturation, of each subsequent solution changes. They also keep a running calculation of the concentration of drops per ml water. They apply what they learn to discussions of biomedical engineers working with cells.
Postcards
Printable worksheet that requires students to write simple postcards. It can be expanded as pupils' confidence grows.
Joe's Jungle: Exploring Biodiversity
This inquiry-based activity introduces students to statistical measures of biodiversity in a controlled setting. Students then apply the techniques for measuring biodiversity to their own investigation into microbial biodiversity. This activity is intended for students in an introductory level environmental science course.
Nutritional Health,Food Production,and the Environment
This course provides an understanding of the complex and challenging public health issue of food security and in a world where one billion people are under-nourished while another billion are overweight. Explores the connections among diet, the current food production system, the environment and public health, considering factors such as economics, population and equity. Case studies are used to examine these complex relationships and as well as alternative approaches to achieving both local and
Anthrax (Spanish)
This patient education program explains the causes and types of anthrax. It also reviews the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of anthrax through vaccination and awareness of bioterrorism. This resource is a MEDLINEplus Interactive Health Tutorial from the National Library of Medicine, designed and developed by the Patient Education Institute.

The Magnetosphere - Earth Raises its Shields
A view of a computer-generated model of the Earth's magnetosphere. Semi-transparent surfaces represent particle density (red is high, blue is low) and silvery tubes represent the magnetic field lines. In this particular model, the solar wind has an ambient density of 8.35 particles-cm^3. The isosurfaces are then red (>17 particles-cm^3), yellow (>12 particles-cm^3), green (>8.6 particles-cm^3) and blue (<1.0 particle-cm^3).
Normal - Sensory Exam - Superficial Sub-exam - Patient 1
Patient is a female with no known neurological health problems who volunteered to act as a simulated patient in order to demonstrate 'normal' responses to exam techniques. She is merely a reference point for exam procedures and protocols, as well as to denote subtle signs from diagnosed patients.

Environmental Action for a Post-Katrina World
What can we learn from disasters like storms, floods, and earthquakes, and how can we apply that knowledge to better protect our communities and environment in the future? In this video and in his book, Facing Catastrophe, Robert Verchick argues for a new perspective on disaster law that is based on the principles of environmental protection. His prescription boils down to three simple commands: Go Green, Be Fair, and Keep Safe. "Going green" means minimizing exposure to hazards by preserving na
Deportation of the Jews of Bălţi
This film contains scenes which may be disturbing.
This footage is taken from German newsreel footage (Die Deutsche Wochenschau) of Bălţi shot in July 1941.
The film shows the aftermath of the heavy bombardment of the city and the exile of those Jews who survived the bombing to a concentration camp, most probably to Răuţel.
The video is part of the exhibition "The Story of the Jewish Community of Bălţi" on the Yad Vashem website. Click here to enter the exhibition: http://www1.yadvashem
