TRMM Tropical Microwave Imager (TMI) sees the power of Hurricane Jeanne On September 25, 2004
NASAs TRMM spacecraft is used by meteorologists to understand Hurricane Jeanne. TRMM saw this view of Hurricane Jeanne on September 25, 2004, just before it made landfall. The cloud cover is taken by TRMMs Visible and Infrared Scanner (VIRS). It looks underneath of the storms clouds to reveal the underlying rain structure. Blue represents areas with at least 0.25 inches of rain per hour. Green shows at least 0.5 inches of rain per hour. Yellow is at least 1.0 inches of rain and red is at least 2

Introduction
Engineer a Sneaker
The goal is for students to understand the basics of engineering that go into the design of a sneaker. The bottom or sole of a sneaker provides support, cushioning, and traction. In addition the sole is flexible and can have some fashion based functions such as cool colors and added height. The sneaker is a well-engineered product, utilizing a variety of materials to create a highly functional, useful shoe. This unit focuses on having the students select specific design requirements, such as goo

Mars Researcher Believes Volcanic Lava Created the Planet's Canyons and Channels
Since the Mars Viking missions in the late '70s, humans have compared the topography of the Red Planet's landscape to their home and imagined a world that once contained flowing rivers that carved channels and canyons.
But David Leverington, an associate professor in the Department of Geosciences at Texas Tech University, says what we interpret as ancient riverbeds most likely were created not by water, but by massive, fast-moving, low-viscosity lava flows that ravaged the planet's surface in
